Desiree Akhavan
Desiree Akhavan is an award-winning London-based filmmaker, writer, and actress known for her distinctively sharp comedic voice. Her work includes the Channel 4 and Hulu original series The Bisexual as well as the films Appropriate Behaviour and The Miseducation of Cameron Post, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. As an episodic director, she’s worked on the Emmy Award winning Hacks and Ramy, and most recently the Amazon series Overcompensating starring Benito Skinner, Kyle McLaughlin, and Charli XCX. Her writing has appeared in The Guardian and British Vogue, amongst others, and her memoir You’re Embarrassing 'Yourself: Stories of Love, Lust, and Movies' was released in 2024.
