ALISON MACLEAN

Born in Canada and raised in New Zealand, Alison came to international attention when her short film Kitchen Sink was nominated for a Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival and won eight awards at festivals worldwide. She followed up her success with two feature films: Crush, which was an official selection at Cannes, and Jesus’ Son, which won the Little Gold Lion at the Venice Film Festival and earned Alison a Best Director nomination. She has also directed episodes of the critically acclaimed series “Sex and the City”, “Carnivale”, “The Tudors” and “The L-Word”.

In addition to her impressive narrative work, Alison co-directed the documentary Persons of Interest, which screened in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, and the comedic documentary/narrative hybrid Intolerable, which screened at the Edinburg, Toronto, L.A., and Hamptons International Film Festivals.

Alison has brought her unique blend of sharp, deadpan humor and pathos to her commercial work. Her Cingular “Battle” spot was a final selection in the AICP show, a Gold Winner for the London International Awards, and was nominated for an Emmy.
